2010 CANAL WINCHESTER FARMER'S MARKET

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. All vendors must register for Main Street Canal Winchester’s Farmer’s Market.  There is a yearly one-time mandatory nonrefundable vendor registration fee of $10.  Registration fees may be paid on or before the first day the vendor sets up at the market.  The vendor registration fee is in addition to any space, table or tent rental fees.
  2. Farmers are to sell what they produce. The exception is to occasionally sell "the neighbor's" produce. All produce must be grown in Ohio.  If there is a complaint or reasonable suspicion that a produce vendor is in violation of this rule or is misrepresenting the source of his/her product, the Market Manager may request a physical inspection of the growing environment to verify the circumstances. Failure to comply with this request or determination of a violation may result in being banned from the market and forfeiture of any deposit.
  3.  We allow homemade baked goods, cheeses, jams, salsa, honey, soap, lotion, etc., provided that the processed foods have met all the State and Local regulations.
  4. The Market Master will assign vendors a place.  These locations are usually the width of a parking spot. Vendors are encouraged to bring their own tables and/or canopy/tent. Tables are not provided unless reserved in advance for an additional fee.
  5. Set-up begins as early as 7 a.m. on Saturdays and as early as 3 p.m. on Wednesdays.  The regular and Fall Harvest Market runs from 8-12 each Saturday.  Wednesday Market (in season) runs from 5-7 p.m.  Market runs RAIN OR SHINE!  NOTE: There is no Farmer’s Market on August 7th due to the C.W. Blues & Ribfest.
  6. Vendor displays must not impede pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk, nor impede vehicular traffic or pedestrian traffic.  Displays may not be placed on exterior walls or windows of the downtown businesses.
  7. After you unload your display and products, moving your vehicle is requested.  This will leave precious parking spaces for your customers.
  8. Vendors set their own prices.  Vendors provide their own rain gear.
  9. No loud radios or shouting of prices.
  10. Electricity and refrigeration are not available at the market.
  11. Vendors are to clean their areas at the end of the day or when they leave.
  12. Grievances or problems are to be directed to the Market Master for resolution.
  13. It is the vendor's responsibility to obtain all licenses and permits, and to pay the fees required by Local and State governing bodies. This includes the vendor's license for goods sold for which a sales tax must be collected.
  14. It is the vendor’s responsibility to obtain premises and physical liability insurance.
  15. Vendors must comply with all laws, ordinances, and regulations of the United States, State of Ohio, and Canal Winchester (which uses the Franklin County Health Department regulations and inspectors).
  16. NOT PERMITTED: The sale of live animals. Flea market items.  Foods prepared on the premises (i.e. concession stand types of food).  There is one exception to this rule: a restaurant storefront located in the downtown and the market is taking place in front of their business (i.e. Shade on the Canal, Wigwam Restaurant, Harvest Moon Coffee House, Roman’s Pizza, Miss Marci’s Sweet Treats).
  17. PAYMENT: a) A discount is given for those vendors who pay in advance for the full year.  Discount price is $175 per space for 16 Saturdays and 9 Wednesdays.    b) Rental fees of any type (space, table or tent) are not refundable.  No discounts on tables or tents.
